Let customers speak for us
from 39 reviewsIf you’ve had cacao nibs before, you know that they can get a bit stale and hard to bite through. When cacao is in bean form, you have the nibs encased before they are broken and exposed to oxygen, allowing for the freshness to stay sealed within the bean. This is the definitive way to enjoy cacao in its purest form.
I’m not even exaggerating when I say that when I got into the coconut filling in the center of this truffle, that I experienced imagery of myself at the beach in summer. The 70% dark chocolate is really the sweet spot for flavor/sweetness in the chocolate and the coconut center is absolutely delicious.
There is something about chocolate covered fruit that really hits when you want a snack. When you combine unbeatable chocolate with some amazing quality mangoes that taste closer to fresh mangoes than any dry mango I’ve ever tasted, you have something truly special. This is that.
This chocolate is unbeatable. If you want a chocolate bar that is nothing but the contents of a cacao bean, then this is the one for you. There is no sweetness here as there is no sugar included being 100% cacao, but the flavor and depth of this chocolate is unrivaled. The fruity notes and smoothness of the cocoa butter make this an excellent choice of chocolate bar.
A recent trip to Hawai'i included a stop at the shop with friends. We spent about 20 minutes just chatting about how the chocolate was made and sampling several different kinds. Of course, I took some home and later made arrangements to have a selection of the bars delivered to friends & family. All have commented on the specialness of this treat and enjoyed the "souvenirs" of my trip. Sweet confections are always a hit when sharing experiences with others. I highly recommend a visit if in the area [we never made it to the farm], and spending a few minutes to converse about chocolate. It will be a special event and most memorable. And the chocolate is fabulous!
WOW Delicious chocolate covered ginger.
I have bought the cacao tea multiple times from Mahiai Made. It is delicious and so cozy and warming. I go through it like crazy, and I also parcel it out into gifts for my family and friends. They also love it. It's like a sugar-free hot cocoa for adults. It's great on its own, and with marshmallows or with other herbal teas (cinnamon/spiced, mint) it is just the thing to make one's day.
I was expecting a thin layer of chocolate surrounding a macadamia nut when I bought these, however, this macadamia nut is completely encased in chocolate. With such lovely high quality chocolate and it being so plentiful, chocolate covered nuts will never be the same to me. I love these!
I love anything and everything chocolate but had never tried cacao tea prior to this. Steeping the chocolate tea in hot water creates an aroma of beautiful dark chocolate that will excite you for the cup. In terms of flavor, this chocolate has fruity notes and is a less bitter than other chocolate. In terms of tea versus your typical hot chocolate, the tea is obviously a lot more water to chocolate in its ratio and you will not have the same mouthfeel as you do with hot chocolate. The health benefits are definitely still there and if you’re looking to hydrate and get a bit of a theobromine boost, then I would definitely suggest trying some cacao tea. This cacao tea is of excellent quality and I highly recommend it!
The ratio of fruit to chocolate is perfect here. Apple bananas are very unique and I would definitely suggest trying if you’ve never had before and the quality of this chocolate is excellent. My fiancé and I loved these and will definitely be buying more soon.
Apple bananas are quite unique and provide for a delicious treat when paired with this delicious chocolate. The chocolate has fruity notes and compliments the banana perfectly with just enough grittiness in the texture to enhance the mouthfeel of the chocolate. This chocolate bar is delicious and I would highly recommend!
The quality of this cacao is excellent. Not as dry powdery as a lot of the commercial brands so you don’t have to worry about inhaling your cacao when opening the package. The flavor is very fruit forward and it really stands out for that. Overall excellent product and I will be purchasing again when I finish my current supply. I love the fact that this is the freshest cacao powder that you can buy!
Love love love your chocolate, made just perfect, and thank you for the very fast shipping...
This was our favorite chocolate bar. Coffee is great too. Loved our visit to Big Island, and occasionally need that Aloha moment; we order online and ship to our home in the Eastern US.
I tried the 70% Dark Dried Apple Banana bar on a whim. It is absolutely delicious!! The chocolate is very smooth and not too sweet. The dried fruit adds a slightly chewy texture and compliments the chocolate perfectly! I ordered more. :-))

Celebrating the Rich Heritages of Hawai‘i's Mixed Cultures
Before the different peoples of Hawai‘i began learning each others' languages and creating pidgin, they created bonds by sharing their lunches. Food in Hawaiian and local cultures is more than just for sustenance. It is a way to celebrate seasons and commemorate events, nurture the soul, and for communities to strengthen their bonds and extend care and aloha in ways beyond words. We draw inspiration from local flavors and hope our products help you to perpetuate those sentiments.

Lovingly Grown and Made in Hawaiʻi Nei by Local Mahiʻai
The 100% Hawaiian cacao we use for our chocolates comes from our very own Ua Hānai Orchards, for a true Tree-to-Bar chocolate experience! We are a "no spray" farm, using agroforestry and permaculture practices to lessen our impact on the land. This is to create a healthier growing environment for our crops, and healthier foods for you!
Our co-founder and Master Mahi‘ai (farmer), Tom, has been farming on Oahu, Maui and Big Island over 4 decades, traveling the world to share his experience as a consultant and learn from other cultures. Those connections have turned into wonderful partnerships with other local mahi‘ai, who's products we are proud to source and offer to you. -
Encouraging Conservation and Self Sustainable Growth Within the Islands
Hawai‘i is our home, and it is our kuleana (responsibility) to mālama ‘āina (care for the land) as much as it cares and provides for us. We strive to balance this stewardship with the growing need for fresh, healthy foods in our communities and to ensure food stability for future generations.
